Computer failure
My house power switch was accidentally switch off and now my computer does not boot. I have checked the video card, RAM memory, and the motherboard does not seemed to be fried but still the computer is not able to boot. What are my options? What else do I need to check?
Any help is appreciated! ljCharlie |

Many thanks for the response. Other than the video card and hard drive, there is realy is nothing in the computer. The power supply is working fine because the fan is working. When I turn on the computer, there is no signal coming to the monitor at all. I already replace the video card and RAM and still the same problem.

But here's my guess. If the accidental power switch off cause the power supply to have this problem, why would it cause the power supply to only produce a small amount of power? My understanding is that it would cause the power supply to totally not working at all. It is a little confusing that the power supply would work but not working at its potential.

See, at first I thought it was the CPU because the PSU is still function, just not to its maximum, so I took the CPU off the mother board. When taking the cpu heat sink along with the fan off the cpu, the cpu got chipped off the corner. So then I have to order a new cpu. That is why it took so long.
It's working fine now. Again, thanks! ljCharlie |
