Computer failure

My house power switch was accidentally switch off and now my computer does not boot. I have checked the video card, RAM memory, and the motherboard does not seemed to be fried but still the computer is not able to boot. What are my options? What else do I need to check?

Any help is appreciated!

Could very well be the PSU that let loose. I'd disconnect every power connection except the ones to the mobo and see if it will power up. If it does plug in 1 device at a time.

Many thanks for the response. Other than the video card and hard drive, there is realy is nothing in the computer. The power supply is working fine because the fan is working. When I turn on the computer, there is no signal coming to the monitor at all. I already replace the video card and RAM and still the same problem.

Just because the fan is working doesn't guarantee that the power supply is putting out enough juice to run the computer!

But here's my guess. If the accidental power switch off cause the power supply to have this problem, why would it cause the power supply to only produce a small amount of power? My understanding is that it would cause the power supply to totally not working at all. It is a little confusing that the power supply would work but not working at its potential.

Here is my post

"I need help!!!!!

I have an Asus motherboard and I tried everything but my computer is not booting up.

-the fans come on and the green light comes on..so i know it is not a power problem

- I tried taking all the cards / memory out ... I dont even get a POST
- no picture on the monitor at all

Any suggestions???"

Thumbs Up

See, at first I thought it was the CPU because the PSU is still function, just not to its maximum, so I took the CPU off the mother board. When taking the cpu heat sink along with the fan off the cpu, the cpu got chipped off the corner. So then I have to order a new cpu. That is why it took so long.

It's working fine now.

Again, thanks!
