Processor Heat
I bought a new Processor yesterday and had the guys at Compusa install it the only problem is its running at 83C idel and the fans only at 2000 RPM! I read lots of reviews about the processor and no one else seemed to have this problem. Any ideas?
This is the processor. Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz 4M sharing L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor |

Hi,
That is WAY too hot. Personally, in this situation, I would take it back to CompUSA and have them look at it since they installed it and it was their mistake.

I also agree there, it sounds as if one or more of the lock down pins are not pushed down correctly. I wouldn't run the computer till you take it back and get them to reinstall the Heatsink/fan. Also make sure you tell them you want them to take off the old thermal pad and reapply new thermal grease like arctic silver
