Slow E660 (UDMA problem) ??

Hi, guys i reported a problem with my new built system the other day! I thought it was fixed & it was the h/drive that was the problem.

However i spoke to soon! And was wrong.

This is the exact diagnoses now! The DVD rom will not play without locking up the computer, unless i put it into PIO mode! Even then its unstable & takes over a minute to load up onto dektop! company of heroes takes over an hour to load! Not good enough as it cost a shed load to build!

I have just put an old cd rom in & left it on PIO mode, The sytem is still unstable & crashing! However if i turn it back to UMDA mode (with the CDR) it flies And boots to windows in approx 20 secs, The system is stable & as quick as i guessed this processor should be!

So i need to get the system to run in UDMA mode (so its stable & quick), but with my DVD rom (instead of the CDR) & without it crashing or locking up the system!

Any suggestions? Cheers guys
