Could use some help getting my pc to work

I just completed assemling my first build a couple days ago and then.. trouble.

When trying to install XP Pro.. lots of stop messages that kept me from doing so.. hinting at problems everywhere..

Finally.. I had success.. instead of trying to load on Raptor like i wanted.. I tried a Seagate PATA drive and all was well.. i added all the other things.. and then.. when I started loading the drivers from winrar or.. I think Bittorrent.. TROUBLE

Long and short of it is computer had some error and said it had to shut down.. but then.. it never could come back to life.. Did my new computer die already?

Here are my specs:

Asus A8N32-SLI Motherboard
WD 74 GB Raptor.. tried two different ones for boot.. neither worked.. later found out.. i had in SATA 2 or 4.. and this might have been reason they did not work.. but by then I loaded a Seagate 7200.10 320 GB slow compared to the Raptors, no matter how fast they spec on Toms Hardware..

Anyway installed Windows no problem.. formatted the other drives.. got all loaded.. set up a few partitions.. and then..

it seems a few things were done by programs at same time.. maybe I was trying to do too much too fast.. and had problem installing, i was formatting a few remaining disk partitions with NTFS or FAT 32 which slowed things down a little, but then all of a sudden i had a half dozen apps that wanted my attention at the same time and wanted system to be restarted.. a couple times in a row on reboot and then.. Black screen..

That was late last night.. today.. NO luck getting system to reboot.

I have read the "How to trouble shoot Motherboard issues", but I have two problems.. when I go to another computer with my asus motherboard cd.. i got an error message that says, "CreateSetupinFile: Can't delete WINDOWS\Ascd_tmp.ini

Is the CD ok.. why can't I run it on another computer?

I see I can get bios from other places, but.. don't have winrar or whatever its called to uncompress zip down loads..

anyone have or know of somewhere to get noncompressed current bios?

or something I can use or some advice on how to acces the bios on my motherboard.. right now.. I am feeling SOL..

Any help greatly appreciated.

My System

Sound like a memory issue. Can you give us some more specs on your system?

My System

Yes this could be a hardware issue and memory comes to mind. However if you installed several things at once and ignored the reboot each time this could have gone amiss.

You had the drives connected wrong as you stated in your post. But before going too far with hardware I would start over with the Windows installation with only one drive connected. Install windows and the hardware drivers for your system and see if things are stable.

If you have issues with installation and have 2 sticks of ram remove one stick to see if your Ram is at issue. The specs of your system including PSU make and wattage would be helpfull.

Thank you for your help. I have been away from the office and forgot i used my business e-mail to set this up.

It turned out that I had a bad OCZ 700W GameXstream power supply, a bad Asus A8N32-SLI motherboard, corrupted Corsair PC 4000 DDR 500 memory and two bad or incompatible with my motherboard WD Raptor hard drives..

Whew.. no wonder I could not trouble shoot it as a newbie, too many problems.

Right now.. soured on the motherboard.. thinking of going with Asus A8R32 MVP or Abit AT8 32X instead or maybe going old school and getting the Asus A8N-Premium.

For using Raptors, a His 1900XTX video card, Corsair PC 4000 DDR 500 memory and an AMD X2 processor.. what motherboard would be the most compatible and most stable with these components?

Thanks again for previous attempts to help.. I actually went through all of the steps at the time..

Also.. that OCZ sparked when I turned it on and off and might have been the main cause of all of this.. it was LOUD.. thought it was just all the fans, etc.. but I measured it to be 45 DBA not from the back but from the front at start up with virtually no activity.. so at idle.. it would go to the mid 50's at load.

I had read up the the FSP model, the Epsilon was silent up to 250 W's so I thought this would be perfect.. quiet for work and writing and a louder for gaming, etc.. but.. it starts out loud on the OCZ and not just mine.. recent reviews even have it in the low to mid 40 dba range at idle.
