P5WD2 Noisey

Hi i just got the P5WD2 MB and a intel pent d 930 65nm chip and i got everything up and running and i noticed the cpu fan is so loud. Its the stock intel fan. Is it normal to be that loud? I have never had a fan be so loud. Also the red EIDE connectors on the mb what are they all about? I have the normal 1 IDE connector then the 2 red ones which is better to hook my ide hdd's and dvd burner up too? also after the normal bios it goes to like adapti bios where it looks for ide drives is there a way to disable it doing that?

yes it was a bit louder than i was used to
the dvd and cd usually go to the normal and the h/d to the red
you need to load the raid driver for using the the red eide
you will find the setting up instructions in your manual

You can set the QFAN (asus's fan controller) to "optimum" or "performance" for less noise. What this does is controls the fan speed by regulating the voltage. When the CPU is idle or has a small load, the fan will slow down, reducing noise. When the board detects that the CPU is being used harder, the fan will speed up so the chip stays cool. If you're just tooling around not working the CPU, it's nice and quiet. As soon as you step it up, the cooling isn't comprimized. You can always turn it off if you know you're going to run it and want max cooling.
