I know this is a fairly old motherboard but it's still a huge upgrade for me.
I did a search, but only able to find a similar thread posted back in 2002 and there was no answer to the post. So here we go. I just recently received this motherboard and it comes with a Athlon XP 2100+ processor. I installed them in my case with 430 Watt power supply, 256mb DDR Ram, Hard Drive, CDRom, PNY GEForce4 MX440 64MB video card, and floppy Drive. When I power up the system, the motherboard green light comes on, all the fans start spinning, the harddrive runs up, but I get no lights on the front of the computer, no lights on the keyboard, but (Most Disturbing of All) NO VIDEO, and no Beeps. I have tried the following: 1. removed the RAM and video card. I heard repeated long beeps. That means the tiny speaker works. However, if i put back the RAM but not the video card, no beep. 2. replaced the aforementioned AGP video card with a cheapo PCI video card that works on another computer. No beep, no post, nothing. 3. placed the PCI video card in all PCI slots. No luck. 4. removed the onboard battery and shorted the jumper to clear the CMOS. Problem still exists. 5. tried both Jumper Mode and JumperFree mode. No luck. 6. tried both CRT and LCD monitors, still no luck. I'm at a complete loss. I have two more PSU, one 300W and one 250W. That's what i will do next. Besides that I have no idea what else to do. Any suggestions? TIA. Last edited by cfcDevil; 05-09-2006 at 01:55 PM. |

Make sure the ram is compatible with the system. You may try to
reseat the cpu. Getting beeps when you yanked the vid card and ram is a good thing, for me anyway. means bios aint necessarily dead. Try taking mobo out of machine, set it on a box,, run it that way to determine whether or not you grounding. When you clear cmos, unplug machine from wall. Leave battery installed, then clear, then set back. The battery is actually clearing the chip, if you take battery out, then use the clr jumpers, it no work. Or you could just unplug machine, take battery out and wait five minutes. That should clear cmos.damn I ramble. sry

I have tried 3 different PC2100 RAM sticks. Still blank screen. I have also placed the mobo outside of the case (with only power cable attached). No go either. So far tested two different PSU, didn't help. It just seems it doesn't matter whether or not any video card is seated in the PCI slot(or AGP). It only complains (beeps) when RAM is not found. ******sigh******

If i only plug in the power supply, RAM and video card to the motherboard (w/o connecting to any HD, CDRom, floppy), would it post and display the BIOS on the screen in normal circumstances?

The extra 4-pin connector from the PSU is not connected. Should i connect it to something? Right now i only have one 512mb RAM stick and one PCI video card connected. Still no luck. Last edited by cfcDevil; 05-09-2006 at 07:49 PM. |

I have just downloaded your manual for your board and I did not see the extra 4 pin connection, my mistake guess this board don't requirer it.
I am reveiwing the manual now seams a bit complicated, are you sure all the jumpers are set correctly? Will post back if I find anything |

My JEN is using default setting (JumperFree-2 & 3). Both CPU_RATIO and SYSCLK are set to off(positioned bottom). THe only jumper that is not in its default position is the PALO_FREQ. It was set to 1 & 2 PALOMINO. I don't know if that was because the CPU is a Athlon XP 2100+. |

Ok, I have one very important question and it relates to jumper settings on the board that must be right and it depends on what core processor you have.
amd makes 2 versions of the 2100, Palomino and Thoroughbred. there is a jumper on the board that must be set correctly depending on witch core you have. Please see page 20 of the online manual. Do you know what core processor you have? |

Don't you just hate it when you start a day with the same exact problem?
A white tower is next to me. I'm about to throw in the tower but the little voice behind my head says, "You can do it!". I just hope HomeDepot has a pc department. I like their "You can do it, we can help" slogan.

Just want to double check and recap,,,
You now have the mobo out of the case and placed on a non-conductive board. Install only,,,, cpu with fan & heatsink psu 1 stick of pc2100 ram video card, try the agp again ps2 keyboard and mouse monitor Is this correct? If not try it but don't have any front panel connections instead start the computer by touching the case switch connections on the mobo with a screw driver for a few seconds till the computer starts. Do you have video now? If not tell us the name and model of the 430w psu, We can then check its specs. You may also want to pull the cpu and check for bent pins and reseat it but remember you must clean and reapply thermal paste. |

THe PSU does not have any brand sticker on it. It only says Model:LPJ2 and 430W. It also has a chart that illustrates the AC input/output. |
