P4P800-E Deluxe Latest Beta Bios
Can anyone provide me with the latest beta Bios or tell me where I can get it for Asus P4P800-E MB. I'm having a problem with my RAM (Corsairs TWINX1024-4400PT). I don't know exactly what is going on but it appears that when I launch a program that uses lots of memory (copy programs, flight sims ant etc) the process starts out moving data pretty good and aftef a little while it starts slowing down to the point whereas sometimes I just have to cancel the process. There would no longer be any HD activity - all processes appear to to be jugling around in memory - as if it gets full and have to move data around to process additional data. Any help or suggestions please.
My Systems Specs: Asus P4P800-E Dlx MB - Bios 1009 Intel P4 4.3 Extreme Edition (not OC) Corsairs TWINX1024-4400PT Windows XP Pro SP2 ATI Radeon X800 XT PE 2 Maxtor 6L200SO SATA Drv. on Intel Contr. Thanks Blackduck30 but I have already tried this one and it is no help. I've seen other postings that some folks are using bios ver. 1019 thru 1023. These may not be official bios but does anyone know if they would work for the P4P800-E Dlx? My memory is capable of 550 however whenever I use the 500 scale in bios my computer boots and work properly however my graphics does not work correctly even when I select the PCI locked at 33/66 thingy.

Without doing a conformation check I am sure that the 1019 to 1023 are for the P4 C800XXX and I am pretty confident that due to the fact that the P4C uses a different chipset it wouldn't work. I wouldn't even attempt to flash my bios to another model for chance of turning my mobo into a paperweight. I will look and see if there are any other Beta bios's about for you
. Edit: while doing a check i came across this article that may help some, have a look at this page and the page after it http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/mai...p4p800e_7.html

Want to first thank you for your help.
What may perhaps be your thoughts about the memory slow up I mentioned? I've tried everything I know of to try to solve this problem but haven't beem successful. When this situation occur I closely watch my HD activity light to see if it may be the drive access. I've measured my drive speed using Sandra which results in about 50mb and I've tested my memory using Sandra which indicate about 48mb. When I run windows explorer to copy many directories/files to another drive the process starts out fine and then eventuall slows. I've thought in the past that the problem may be the Promise controller however it also happens with the Intel controller. I've insured that the PS is adequate, and the memory and CPU is not overheating. My CPU temp runs about 37C - it is water cooled. Right now I'm reinstalling XP and FS9 all over again. I don't think I want to do this any more. I have backups but it still takes about 4 to 5 days to reinstall everything. I have an Abit IC7 Max3 also which I have a P4 2.8 just about the same setup but without the drive access or memory slowdown symptoms. I wish I had installed FS9 on this system instead of the ASUS but wanted to give this brand a try. I can't even do a backup using Acronis TrueImage 9.0 with the Promise controller. Anyway - Thanks for your help. wb2002 |

the next thing that comes to mind would be a sus HD cable
maybe try running a trial version of system mechanic 6, it may find something. it also has a feature that defrags your memory and what it is allocated to. I run it on my system and it seems to work ok http://www.iolo.com/sm/6pro/index.cfm

Thanks again for all offering to help. I will try the suggestion of running Memtest for approx 3 hours. What I don't exactly or remotely fully understand is whether I should select the DRAM Frequency of 400 or 500. As I mentioned before I have the CPU External Frequency set at 210 or 200 and the AGP/PCI Frequency locked at 66.66/33.33. CPU VCore Voltage at 1.5500V, DDR Reference Voltage at 2.85 and AGP VDDq Voltage at 1.50V.
Actually, there are exactly two problems I'm dealing with. 1.) The memory eventual slowdon of data processing and 2.) When setting the DRAM Frequency at the 500 Mhz and experiency the graphics problems of spikes flashing. When dealing with the DRAM Frequency of 500 (regardless of whether the CPU Freq is set at 200 or 210, I experience the graphics problem mentioned above which I cannot live with. When dealing with the other problem of memory slowdown (data processing) regardless of what my other settings are (even with all AUTO settings - I experiene the problem of slowdown. This is why I was interested in the possibility of perhaps a BIOS update solution. A little balffled in Miami, wb2002 Last edited by wb2002; 05-10-2006 at 01:39 PM. |
