Vaio FS215S Graphics card - Help

Hi. I am new to this board and a novice with lap tops.

I recently bought a Vaio FS215s lap top off ebay and I am having problems with it.

The lap top came with no discs or drivers and there was no sound and I couldn't find the graphics card (GeForce Go6200 supporting 128) in the system information. I downloaded the relevant drivers from the vaio-link.com site and managed to enable the sound but can not do anything with the graphics card (if it is even there).

I tried a DVD which was poor quality and the lap top would not pick up Doom 3 and a few other games.

My lap top isn't connected to the internet yet as I have no router so I downloaded the drivers to my PC, put them onto disc and transferred them to the lap top that way.

Do you have any ideas why I cannot find the graphics card? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The easiest way to the driver downloads is to download the drivers from the manufacturers website. Look for drivers / downloads / support sections to find your drivers. Simply enter the model number and search. In this case you ll be looking for a video driver or display drivers.

Actually i just found this link. Go there and click on detect my model number here. Your model number is not recognized by the site as you entered it. Do you see numbers starting with vgn or pcg ? You should find your display drivers at the link. Sony is pretty decent with their driver support system. Shouldnt be hard.

Maybe a bit of a late post but...

With my laptop, it uses the ATI Radeon X700 128MB Dedicated graphics card when I am connected to the power supply, but when I am mobile, it uses the graphics built into the mainboard (Intel graphics Media Accelorator). If you have the power supply connected, will the graphics card run well?

Hope this helps.
