Hi
I have a HP Pavillion ze4500/ze4530 us Laptop. Everytime I boot up the mouse works fine but only for a few minutes I have to restart the machine about 3 times just ti use it normally. Even when the laptop is starting up i have to touch the mouse to "turn it on". Also i could be working or whatever and a box comes up saying "Your TouchPad has been disabled because the Synaptics TouchPad driver has detected another pointing device pluuged into your computer." Even though I dont have a Mouse plugged in. Any idas whats wrong? Thanks

Sorry Paul, I don't have an answer...
... I'm having a similar problem and am hoping that if you've figured it out by now that you may share the secret. My laptop thinks that it has a mouse plugged into the PS/2 port (it doesn't), and so although all the functionality of the touchpad is still represented on the control panel all the good stuff (scrolling, corner tapping etc) has stopped.Good luck. Have you checked in the laptop's BIOS settings? Sometimes there is a setting to configure how the touchpad works in conjunction with an external mouse. My thinkpad has that option to work using the trackpoint and mouse, trackpoint only, or mouse only.

Just to report that I'm OK now too.
I'm afraid none of the above worked for me though. I was lucky enough to be able to go back to a system restore point before too much else had changed. Everything worked fine after that, and it has done since. Hopefully a one-off glitch somewhere.
Regards, EdB |
