When I type, it messes up PLEASE HELP!

for some reason on my Dell 8600 labtop, when I type, the cursor will randomly go somewhere else on the page. I think it has to do with my cursor because when I click to type, I'll type for a second or a few and then it will randomly go back to the mouse cursor wherever it was, whether it was where I clicked to start the sentence or wherever it is on the page. This happens frequently and in all programs. Thanks in advance.

Try disabling the touchpad and see if this stops.

The mouse randomly moving around can be due to loose connection of the keyboard to the systemboard. It can also be a bad keyboard.
I have seen alot of these. We usually just replace the keyboard

If it is under warranty, call it in and get it replaced.
If not under warranty, disable the touchpad and pencil tip in the mouse settings.

You can also check the pencil tip cover. It might be on too low and is being pushed around

Hope this helps

You should see an option to do this by clicking on the Mouse icon in the Control Panel.

One you can disable which is apparently my mouse since i tried it out. The other one which I assume to be touchpad, it doesnt let me disable. The disable thingy is grayed out!! grrrr

Try the Device Manager under Control Panel, System, Hardware.

Might be under Human Interface Device or Mouse/Touchpad?

Some machines have both a point stick with buttons and a touch pad as well??

The touch pads can be a pain as your thumbs can sometime hit them by accident!
