IBM THINKPAD R51 - What the heck is going on.. tooo weird

I have my buddies laptop here at my house. It's a IBM R51 laptop.

When I'm at HIS house, the laptop fires right up with no problems AS LONG AS YOUR NO FURTHER THEN 10 FEET FROM HIS WIRELESS ROUTER. If you go upstairs in his house, and try to fire up the laptop, you get the prompt for "start windows normally" ... or "safe mode" , etc. The computer then cycles through and you get a blue screen that flashes on for about 3 seconds. It was a full page so I had to take a picture of it so I could read it. Here is the picture. (there is too much to type)

If I take the laptop downstairs near the router. It fires up no problem.

This laptop has been upstairs at his house for two years with NO PROBLEMS. the only thing I notice now is there there are several wireless networks in his neighbourhood. I changed the setting to use his everytime and still the computer won't boot properly.

It should still boot up in my opinion and not have a wireless connection but that doesn't happen.

WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO MY HOUSE......... NO PROBLEMS AT ALL? I had it here for two weeks left on for days. It finds my wireless connection and stays connected. It never rebooted itself once.

Can anyone tell me what they think that blue screen is finding?

BTW: NO NEW SOFTWARE HAS BEEN INSTALLED.

Thanks all.

(I wondered if when the computer fires up and it starts to load the wireless adapter inside it get's screwed up from all the signals around but I'm just guessing)

I would try another router which should localize your problem if a different router solves the issue.

Resetting your router may help..... Have you turned off the existing router, waited a few moments then turned it back on....

Post back with results, others also may reply to assist you.

kind regards,

Yes, sorry I should have posted about that.

Did a reset of the router two or three times.......Unplugged it for 1/2hr at one point (phone call i had to take) and pushed the "reset" button.

Now.. my buddies son brought his friends laptop over and no problems whatsoever. It worked flawlessly.

thanks.

SORRY.. Nope... the problem is still occurring. The other laptop works fine.

The problem still exists with this one.

I have it at my house now since yesterday and no problems at all. Take it back to his house and use it 10 feet from the router in the basement.. no problem

go upstairs (about 40 feet away) and the computer just wants to keep rebooting and giving us the blue screen.

It worked fine upstairs for the last two years and all of a sudden this

Hi this is a little info on your error code 0x0000000A: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
(Click to consult the online MSDN article.)
Typically due to a bad driver, or faulty or incompatible hardware or software. Use the General Troubleshooting of STOP Messages checklist above. Technically, this error condition means that a kernel-mode process or driver tried to access a memory location to which it did not have permission, or at a kernel Interrupt ReQuest Level (IRQL) that was too high. (A kernel-mode process can access only other processes that have an IRQL lower than, or equal to, its own.)
Info found here http://aumha.org/a/stop.htm
Please follow the instructions here http://www.techsupportforum.com/micr...tructions.html and someone here can run the files through a debug to help track down the issue
