Explanation Please on Monitors
I've been searching online for some answers to questions I have regarding monitors and cannot seem to find basic information. So any help here would be greatly appreciated. I have a Toshiba laptop with a resolution of 1024 x 768 and external video resolution of 1920x1440. It seems to give me a great picture. I have hooked it up to a Micron Trinitron CPD 4401 "color class B digital apparatus" which has a resolution of 1600x1200 and also gives me an excellent picture. I've just bought an emachines LCD widescreen monitor with a resolution of 1920x1080. When I hook this up to my laptop, the resolution on the emachines monitor is terrible - doesn't look solid. I've tried various adjustments on the new monitor including setting it to aspect rather than widescreen but there is no change in the quality of the picture. Can someone explain to me why an LCD monitor with higher resolution is giving a poorer picture than a Trinitron or my laptop screen? I could also use some help in understanding what the external video resolution applies to - I'm assuming that when I view my laptop screen, I'm getting 1024x768.

Re: Explanation Please on Monitors
The only thing i can think of is the computer isnt sending a high resolution image. Hook it up and go into the display settings in the control panel and see if you can change the resolution to a higher one.
