Laptop won't boot or anything (Compaq Armada m700)

Hello once again good chums.

I've recently gotten my hands onto a Compaq Armada m700 laptop. Sadly it doesn't boot up to anything, not even the screen with the logo.

I'm thinking that most likely the battery is dead, this is a 10 year old laptop afterall. But could it also be something else? Maybe the bios battery?

Anyway, I need to know what the exact problem is.

When its plugged in the charging light comes up yellow.

When I press the on button the charging light blinks and another light of a cylinder comes up (It also looks faintly that the number-lock key lights up too, but not as bright). But after like 5 seconds it just goes back to normal.

It does this both plugged in and not.

Also when the battery is out and its still plugged in, the charging light just keeps on blinking, but that's probably because its telling me that there's no battery connected.

The battery feels warm though while charging and the the fan doesn't turn on, or really no sound at all comes out when attempting to turn it on.

Re: Laptop won't boot or anything

Hi,

Most likely the motherboard is dead. Try turning the computer on by plugging the AC Adapter onto the laptop without the battery. If this doesn't work try connecting the battery to the laptop but disconnect the AC adapter and turn the laptop on.

I am certain that the motherboard is toast on this laptop. Since the laptop is 10yrs old or so, it would be wise just to purchase a new laptop.

Re: Laptop won't boot or anything

Have the ac adapter tested.
Just because its 10 yrs old, it might still be a good machine.
The hours of use is more important than the age of the laptop.

I already said I tried it with and without the battery, same with the adapter.

And it wouldn't be wise spending a bunch of money on a new laptop, I just wanted to maybe fix this one up for a few bucks since I already got it for like free.

And I had the adapter tested and it seems to work. (If it didn't work wouldn't the charging light not come on?)

Re: Laptop won't boot or anything

My dad.

But if the adapter isn't working, and the light comes on, then where would it be getting the power to do so?
