Battery Problem
I have an Acer Aspire 5515 Laptop which was purhased in 2/09. My battery start lasting on 20 minutes. I purchased a new battery and it is not working either. It keep saying "no battery detected". The battery I purchased is the correct kind of battery. I am at a loss as what to do next. Can anyone help?

Re: Battery Problem
My only thought is bad motherboard.
If you have a multi-meter, or can borrow one from a friend (or buy one from Wal*Mart and return it), plug the laptop into the wall, turn it on, wait for it to boot into Vista and then flip it on it's side--make sure it doesn't fall though. Can't remember which setting to use it's either AC/ACV or DC... AC/DC... hehe... back to business. One looks like a ~ and the other is a line with some dots under it. Touch and hold the black probe... hehe... probe... to the metal part of the AC adapter (should be plugged into the back of the computer right about now if you're following directions). Touch the red probe to the pins inside the battery thingy... gir... the spot where the battery would be if it were in there. If the battery is in there, please remove it and follow this step again. The voltage of each pin should be somewhere within 3-5 volts... but that's just usually, don't quote me on that. Either way, post the results of each pin. Of course, if you bought the warranty with your laptop you can just take it back and get the motherboard replaced...
