Wireless doesn't work after format
Hello there,
A guy i work with brought me a very old Inspiron 510m dell the other day and asked me to wipe everything off it and reinstall windows xp. I have done just that and now all that is on the computer is AVG anti virus and thats about it. I have also downloaded and installed all the latest updates for it using Windows Update. The problem that im having is that the laptop now seems to have no idea that it have wireless adaptor installed. I have downloaded the up to date drivers but none of them mentioned wireless. If i go into control panel i can run the wireless wizard which claims to finish successfully but the no other signs on the whole computer that wireless is there including into Network Connections. Please help. Last edited by bonson2507; 11-11-2009 at 09:27 AM. |

Re: Wireless doesn't work after formal
Check here to see if an adapter is installed. If it is then you can find the drivers here, just choose your operating system and look under network to see what wireless cards were offered for this laptop.
Also make sure you install Notebook System Software first then the chipset drivers before installing all other drivers.

Re: Wireless doesn't work after formal
Thank you for that, it is now up and running. I am slightly concerned because I installed the drivers in the wrong order (chipset first, then NSS and then the rest), is that going to be a problem in the long run? It is currently working just fine.
Thanks again. |
