Question Compaq Laptop won't turn on...

Hi :)

My boyfriend has a Compaq laptop, and the monitor won't load up. The lights come on, as does the fan, but nothing comes on the screen.

Any answers/suggestions to make it work?

Thanks

Re: Compaq Laptop won't turn on...

There's no CDs in the drive, and we don't have any spare monitors to plug it into.
Thanks for that suggestion though :)

Re: Compaq Laptop won't turn on...

on my Compaq laptop also i noticed when i put it into hibernation, then take it out, i will have to close the screen, then open it back up for the screen to turn on.

try turning it on, then after you think it is to the password screen, or the desktop, close the lid, wait about 5 seconds then open the screen.

its just a small glitch that sometimes happens on mine.

Re: Compaq Laptop won't turn on...

Please post the model number from the sticker on the bottom.

Please try a hard reset:
- Hold the power button until the lights on the laptop have shutoff.
- Remove the battery and disconnect the laptop from the AC adapter (power cord).
- Hold the power button down for 60 seconds.
- Now plug the power cord in and press the power button.

Re: Compaq Laptop won't turn on...

my friend just had this problem at school too, the teacher went into the BIOS and set the video to take up the maximum amount of ram.
go into the BIOS and check the video card settings, if you can, but you might need an external monitor to view the BIOS screen.
if my other post before didnt work.
