[SOLVED] Dell Lan Problem

I did a hd replacement on an older dell inspiron 2650. Installed win xp sp2 and downloaded the drivers from the dell site. I installed everything according to the directions (order) and all seemed fine until I plugged in the lan cable. It does not detect the cable so can't get it on the internet, any suggestions appreciated.

Re: Dell Lan Problem

Look in Device Manager to see if anything shows with a yellow ! or is marked as Unknown.

Re: Dell Lan Problem

Everything looks fine in device manager, I did locate the problem, someone had forced something into the ethernet port and bent/shorted two of the connector wires together, never saw this before. Thanks for response.
