please help

I have a dell laptop and im having trouble with the power.The battery is dead but it will not charge. When i plug the charger in the power light will not come on. I dont think its the jack because i took it apart and when i hit the power button with the power cord pluged in i can hear the harddrive arm click once but only once.

if someone could help me that would be great.

Some dell laptops will not boot if the battery is bad. The only way to test this is to try another battery. (With or without ac power adapter)

What model do you have?

i have an inspiron 1000

Try unplugging the unit and taking the battery out, then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds or more.

Some other sites recommend after doing this that reseat the memory module with no power. Then try turning it on.

The Mainboard may be dead possibly.
