Laptop Turns off While Booting

I have an HP Pavilion dv7-1135nr laptop. Today it turned off while I was working and it has not turned on since. I've tried leaving it alone for awhile on the charger, taken the charger apart and put it back together, changed outlets, taken the battery out and cleaned all the dust out of it, but nothing's worked. The last time I tried to turn it on, I noticed that while the power and charger lights on the side are on, the hard drive light is not. The farthest I managed to get was all the way to the log in screen before it shut off again.

It sounds like software fault

Does the laptop go into the bios press F2 on boot screen and leave running
does it go off while in the bios

Download a live distro you know like kubuntu and burn it at the lowest speed you can on PC thats good.

Pull the hard drive from the laptop and boot from the live distro

Does it shut off using the live distro?
