Hp Pavillion dv4 series known issues? expert advice.

I recently purchased a laptop on ebay (HP dv2000 series) and for more or less 2 hours hours of the box, it died. after a few hours of research on the dv200 series i found out it is prone to a few costly issues. i tried to do my research before hand, but i guess this is something that just happens? I visited staples the other day and was struck by the HP DV4 series, but i couldn't afford new and didnt need 4GB of ram, 320GB HD, etc. i also wanted an AMD processor, built in webcam, and a 14" screen. so i checked ebay, and found earlier model dv4's which i like...because i liked the dv2000's....everything. unless i know of any problems specifically, this could be another DOA. or at the worst Dead after a few weeks. so are the beginning of 2009 model dv4's, with amd processors a good laptop for the price? are they prone to any problems? will i have any issues a week, a month, 6 months, a year....or 2 down the road? if not what what would you recommend? thanks for any help.
