Hi ,

What i wanna be able to do on the Pc.

- Homeworks
- use Delphi.net, C++ , programming.
- Games, Battlefield 2 , Europa Universalis, MapleStory.etc "no HIGH END GAMES, aka CRYSIS.
- Surf the net , download stuff.

What hardware I DO need and Dont!

- DON'T necessary need DVD RW drive. (Gonna get games off the web)
- DON`T need LAGG, wanna be able to run several windows or apps at once.
- DON`T need, second number keypad, at the right side of "ENTER", dont know the correct term.

- DO need , Big battery Life, 8cell or higher battery. "7+hours" If possible.
- DO need , Not too big pc, 13.3 Inch or so...
- DO need, HDMI Support.
- Do need, HD video support, wanna be able to watch HD Content without lagg.

I was looking around a tad, and Found these two laptops that seem to have good battery life and are rather Slim and light.

Re: Choice of laptop, Help.

I would go with the Asus, it looks to have all the features of the Acer, but has a 500gb hard drive and a dual core processor which is going to help ALOT with running multiple apps.

Acer . Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300

Asus . Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300

They seem to have the same processor , duo core.

graphics cards are different , could you tell me which is better?
Can i run all those games i named , full settings on both?
What is the more powerful Graphics card?

Asus has Intel GMA 4500MHD

Acer has Mobility Radeon HD4330

Re: Choice of laptop, Help.

I'd still go with the Asus over the new acer, both are about the same but the Asus has the 500gb hard drive over the Acer's 320gb.

and yes, the Core 2 Solo is only a single core processor, dual core will be alot better for applications. Just the SU7300 is an older processor (the SU9000 series is thier new ones) and the Core 2 Solo are a bit newer hence the higher cost.

ok . Ill take the Asus. But One final Question.

The Acer seems to have a Better Graphics card.
Will the Asus graphics card be able to handle games such as Battlefield2 ?
also, Will the ASUS graphics card be able to play FULL HD contant, even Youtube videos?

I thank you alot for you help thus far. THANKS

Re: Choice of laptop, Help.

Good question, as for battlefield 2, none of those will be able to play it, processors are not fast enough, and not enough in the graphics department.

Battlefield 2 System Requirements:

- Minimum Specification:
CPU: 1.7 Ghz
RAM: 512 Mb
Video Card: NVidia GeForce FX 5700, ATI Radeon 8500 or ATI Radeon 9500
with 128 Mb of RAM

- Recommended Specification:
CPU: 2.4 Ghz
RAM: 1 Gb
Video Card with at least 256 Mb of RAM

- Video Cards
Battlefield 2 only supports the following video cards:
Radeon X700 (PCIe)
Radeon X600 (PCIe)
GeForce 6600 (PCIe)
GeForce PCX 5900 (PCIe)
GeForce 5800 Series (AGP)
ATI Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition
ATI Radeon X800 PRO
ATI Radeon 9800 Series
ATI Radeon 9600 Series
ATI Radeon 9550 (RV350LX)
ATI Radeon 9500 / 9700 Series
ATI Radeon 8500 Series
ATI Radeon X300 Series
NVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra
NVidia GeForce 6800 GT
NVidia GeForce 6800
NVidia GeForce FX 5950 Series
NVidia GeForce FX 5900 Series
NVidia GeForce FX 5700 Series

For the supported video cards, this was just in there and has probably changed quite a bit since it came out.

They should be able to do HD content fine, HD is just a video resolution, but my extremely basic intel 82856 video can play it pretty good with just a small amount of stuttering, just depends on which resolution you want to run, most laptops will do 1366 x 768 just fine, if you want to run 1920 x 1080, then expect to pay quite a bit ($1200 and up in the US) and have a battery life of only a couple hours at most.
