Please Help - BSOD + DVD Drive not working :(

Hi

I have HP Dv5000 series laptop. Its over 3 years old but was in warrantly till last month.Virtually all parts were replaced atleast once in last 3 years :)

But yesterday I got BSOD when I installed some pluggin. Dont know if it was virus. Now the problem is that I can boot Windows. Not even in any of the modes( Safe Mode, Last Known configuration etc). To make it even worse, two weeks back my DVD Drive had stopped working. There is no way I can use any recovery disks or Windows CDs to make it boot.

But I have 2 USB Portable drives (160G,1T) and my laptop supports booting from USB. Can I use my friend's PC to install Windows in 160G Portable USB disk and start using Laptop from it temproarily ? Can anyone please help me by telling me how to accomplish that ? Or is there any other way ?

I dont have a USB DVD Drive. I am in China at the moment and I dont want to take it to a shop.

Any help would be deeply appreciated

Thanks
Rahul
