AC ADAPTER or THE LAPTOP HAS THE PROBLEM???

Hello everybody!!!

I have my 4 months old ACER 4937G laptop that is experiencing the following problem:

* Can’t start by using the AC ADAPTER alone (w/o BATTERY).
* Can start by using the BATTERY alone.
* The BATTERY will not charge even if the AC ADAPTER is attached.
* The BATTERY will charge if the system is totally switch off.

Sensing that the AC ADAPTER is the problem, I tried to use a new one but the same problem occurs as the old one.

So, I am asking assistance with you guys, with regard to this problem. And your help will be much appreciated…

Re: AC ADAPTER or THE LAPTOP HAS THE PROBLEM???

If the battery charges while its off, but not when its on, that will be a motherboard problem.

But you may also have a bad ac adapter, did you get the new one from Acer or buy it?

Since your laptop is only 4 months old, I would suggest calling acer and get it repaired under warranty.

hello MADCATZ!!! thanks for the reply...

I bought the ac adapter and not from ACER...

With regard to the warranty, is it possible to avail it here in Hongkong since the unit was purchased in the Middle East (Saudi Arabia)?

Again, thank you for your prompt reply...

Re: AC ADAPTER or THE LAPTOP HAS THE PROBLEM???

am not sure about that one, you would have to contact acer support to find out. I know some places are authorized for international warranty repairs and some are not.

As for the AC adapter, I would suggest testing the original adapter with a volt meter. If it does test fine, then yes you need to take it for warranty repair. If its bad, then you could just call up acer and have them ship you a new adapter. Since you didn't get it from acer, I'm guessing its probably a third party universal? those do not always work properly or supply enough power for all laptops.

hello again, MADCATZ...

Maybe you're right...the AC ADAPTER might be a third party universal. 'coz there's no ACER LOGO printed on it. anyway, i'll stick to your advice... thank's and more power...
