Toshiba won't turn on

I have a Toshiba Satellite M45-S269 laptop. I had it plugged in and it was working fine and THEN the screen went blank. When I attempted to restart the computer nothing happened - no lights, no action, no nothing. I attempted to bypass the battery and still received no response. All theories I read seem to be understandable IF I could get the computer to power up but since it has no power and won't turn on those options are useless. I had the power supply checked and it it ok and I had the battery checked and it is ok. I have cleaned and attempted every possible (and impossible and impracticle way to get the computer to start up - short of climbing up the electric pole to do a direct contact - no other plug in the house has been safe from my fruitless efforts) but I still can not even get a flicker of light when I plug it in and push the on switch. Any suggestions if not for powering up but trying to recover data? Thanks.

Re: Toshiba won't turn on

Hi and welcome to TSF.

I have one of these and it comes in handy:

Pretty easy to use. You should be able to get the data you need off the HD if the PC is not worth repairing.

But I think your laptop needs to go in for repair. Sounds like something on the MOB if you have a good power supply battery and no lights.

Re: Toshiba won't turn on

Have you tried this:

1. Remove battery.
2. Remove AC power.
3. Remove and reseat your RAM modules.
4. Replace your RAM modules.
5. Hold down your power button for 1 minute (Battery and AC still disconnected).
6. Replace your AC power (not battery) and turn on.

This is called a hard reset. If it works COOL, then replace your battery. If not then we will try something else. Good luck.
