Acer travelmate video problem
I have an Acer Travelmate 521iT that up until now has been bombproof.
it had win 98se on it when purchased refurbished about 4 years ago, I added 512mb memory, fitted a new hard drive, updated the bios (on advice from Acer) and installed Xp professional sp2 3 years ago and everything has been fine.....up until now. Last time I switched it on, I got a message that the motherboard battery was flat. no worries, I got hold of a guide off the 'net of how to replace the battery and awayyy we go. Only thing is now every things too big to fit on the screen properly. you turn it on, the travelmate screen appears, the red laptop picture is nearly twice as big as it should be, and everythings offset to the right. when the operating system fires up you cant see the start menu or system tray, they're there-just off the screen. IF you plug an external monitor in that works perfectly! I've been back to Acer to find drivers and reinstalled everything I could get my hands on, but nothings made a difference yet. I even reinstalled the original bios and refitted the original hard drive with win98se on it, and tried the driver disks that came with the thing but nope. no good. I am going nuts...... |
