I have an old Dell Lat D600 with a 60G HD, 1.5G RAM, and runs Windows XP Pro with all updates. I also have current firewall and virus protection.
Over the past few weeks, I noticed that the computer was getting progressively slower. I tried the usual stuff like deleting temp files, defrag, chkdsk, etc. etc. It got to the point where I finally backed up what I needed and did a clean re-install of XP (not repair). It is still not like it used to be. I noticed that when I go to My Computer => Properties , Under "Computer" it tells me Processor 1400 MHz 251MHz, 1.5GB of RAM. is the 251 MHz too low? Is there something I need to do to fix this? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance. |

Re: Dell D600 Speed Issue
try setting the power profile to home office.
Alot of laptops will throttle down the processor to save energy and battery life, different power profiles change how much the processor can be throttled down, home office profile by default disables that feature. |
