Need to get into its innerds...

One and All -

Does anyone know where I might go to find out how to open the case on my 6 year old Gateway M675 to get at the mother board and power connector? (I'm also trying to contact the Gateway people, but don't hold out much hope.)

I have an intermittent power problem that seems to be related to the orientation of the power plug in the connector, and it's getting worse as time progresses. The little blue or pink light only comes on less than half the time now, and the battery spontaneously, completely discharges every once in a while. The first possibility that comes to mind is that the connector/motherboard connection has a loose wire that a simple micro-soldering job might fix. (Yeah, I know. It's probably much more complicated than that, but the laptop is pretty much useless now anyway, so I don't have a lot to lose.)

(The unasked question is "Why are you messing with a 6 year old Gateway for, anyway?" The answers are:

1. It's significantly faster running 32 bit XP than my new, whiz-bang, dual core, lightening fast, super-size-me, 64 bit, Acer Aspire 8920 running #$%^& Vista!

2. It runs 32 bit software that I already own, rather than 64 bit software that I have to go out and buy all over again!

3. It's a COMPUTER that does computer things, not a "multimedia experience" in a pretty much useless pretty blue case. )

Thanks in anticipation.
