Greetings, I'm new to forums and a little excited. Here goes. Help! I have a Toshiba Satellite M115-S106. The yellow update appeared, which I opened. It stated it needed to update to Service Pack 3. I clicked install. After finishing, it promted to restart. I clicked restart. After "Windows XP" logo appeared, it went dark and blue screen error message appeared. It rebooted and again error message.
I disabled automatic restart to capture error message: "A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow theses steps: Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adpaters. Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, Press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode. Technical Information: ***STOP: 0x0000008E (0xc0000005,0x8057019E,0xF278ABA4,0x00000000) Beginning dump of physical memory Physical memory dump complete. Contact your system administrator.......for further assistance. I have attemped to roboot using all the choices F8 will allow to no avail. I used the Recovery CD, but became apprehensive because it "WARNS" all data will be lost. I'd like to keep my data. Which brings me to the "forum". HELP! THANK YOU Last edited by grasshper_geek; 10-19-2009 at 07:21 PM. |

Re: Toshiba Sat M115-S106 stop error after upgrade to SP3
First thing I would do is test your memory, download memtest86+ (link in my sig) get the iso .zip file, burn that image to a cd, then boot your computer to that cd. Its preferred that you let it run overnight.
I would also suggest running a hard drive test, link found in my sig, download the test from whichever brand of hard drive you have. Then its the same thing, burn it to a cd, boot your computer to it and most will have a quick and advanced tests, run both if it gives you that option. |

Re: Toshiba Sat M115-S106 stop error after upgrade to SP3
A quick look on ebay came back with a few reults here
http://www.0x0000008e.com/ and here http://icrontic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50966 Can you get into safe mode by pressing F8 after the boot splash screen If you can then it seems its a driver issue As a rule do not use any drivers that microsoft says are ok from the update site |

Thank I will give your suggestions a try. Also I attempted to uninstall SP3 in recovery console. Did not work. Bummer! Let you know how things turn out.
