broken LCD screen
Hey, my screen on my A505-S6960 recently broke, what would be the easiest way to fix this? Would it be sending it into toshiba? how much would that cost? or take it to a repair store, or try it myself? and the whole screen needs replaced :(
Thank you for the time |

Re: broken LCD screen
If this information looks do able to you I'd buy one online and do it myself. http://www.irisvista.com/tech/
I paid $275 to have one fixed before I knew it wasn't so hard. If you're worried about damaging it go ahead and pay someone then ask them to let you watch so you can learn for yourself. Last edited by win98forever; 10-09-2009 at 03:21 PM. |

Re: broken LCD screen
Unless you have accidental damage coverage the warranty won't cover it.
The back light is inside the screen itself if the screen is broken you'll need a replacement the backlight will come with it. I use a company named SmartMicro for replacement screens, you'll need to take the lid apart and get the part number off the back of your present screen to ensure the correct replacement(if you decide to do it yourself) > http://www.smartmicrousa.com/ |

Re: broken LCD screen
That's why you need the part number off the back of you original screen, I've seen the same models use different screens depending on production date.

Re: broken LCD screen
Screencountry doesn't list part numbers of their screens nor do they have an interchange search on the site so it looks like you'll have to email them to see which one it is.
Smartmicro shows the screen as this> http://www.smartmicrousa.com/toshiba...ga-glossy.aspx |

Re: broken LCD screen
No it's not bad, I usually find them cheaper and the specs are right, I've also at time seen used screens selling on auction sites for more then new screens from them with a warranty.
