Inspiron 7000 Screen Image Breakup Shortly After Switching On
I've been through all the other "screen" postings but can't find an exactly similar problem.
After switch-on the Dell Welcome Screen appears for about 2 to 5 seconds and then the screen becomes a hotch-potch of vertical/horizontal lines, rectangles/blotches. Connected to external monitor (bios set to show both laptop and external screen). External monitor image showing OK. Noticed that as windows are opened/closed the laptop screen reacts in sympathy - still a hotch-potch but obviously not totally "lifeless". Do these symptoms definitely signify one of the following? 1. The screen must be replaced. 2. The screen may be OK but an ancillary component needs replacing. 3. Both the screen and an ancillary component need replacing. I have a spare 7000 (in bits and condition unknown!) and would be prepared to attempt substituting items if I were pointed in the right direction. I don't want to be conned into buying a new screen unnecessarily for a laptop of this age. |

Re: Inspiron 7000 Screen Image Breakup Shortly After Switching On
Hi and welcome to TSF try updating the drivers first, the fault may be as you suspect but you should also check the cables that connect the screen to the motherboard if only to rule out any issue there
