No wireless connection on laptop

I recently had viruses removed and upgraded RAM on my compaq presario laptop. Someone that worked on it for me told me they put it in "safe mode" ???????? Anyways, now I get no wireless connections available on my laptop. It is not my router cuz it is working for the other laptop in the home just fine. When I try to see what conections are available there is nothing...
I checked my wireless button to make sure it was on to ensure it would pick up a connection but that is not it either??????
Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? Im pretty computer iliterate when it comes to technical stuff so laymans terms would be great.

Someone did mention something to me about a wireless device driver that could have gotten uninstalled during my fix and I have googled that and can't seem to understand what it means and how to reinstall as well as no forums to see if that could actually be it???
HELP!!!

Re: No wireless connection on laptop

The Wireless Device Driver could be the problem. You need to download the driver from the manufacturer's site and install it.
Posting the Brand name & Model Number of the laptop would be most helpful.

Re: No wireless connection on laptop

How am I to download the manufacturers driver from their site without being able to get on the internet?????
My configuration is turned on, and not a single connection is picked up. I can use the internet from the second laptop in the house so I know its not my router.......

Possibly the same way you managed to post on this forum and then just transfer the downloaded files to your laptop with a usb memory stick. You could also connect your laptop to your router with the ethernet cable it possibly came with and download the files directly.

As said you'll need to download the wireless device driver from HP / Compaq's website and you may also need to update the BIOS. Check this link to HP's site to see if your laptop needs a BIOS update...
