Acer 5315 won't power on.

First poster here so be gentle ;)
I got my mate acer 5315. The problem with it is that it won't power up.
To be more precise it will boot up for 3-5 seconds but the screen remain blank at all time and after that it powers off. I tried to reset cmos - didn't help. Tried 30 second trick with a power button didn't help either. Tried taking out ram - same, hdd same and so on. The hdd is working fine i hook it up to my pc and its seems fine. Is there anything else that i can try ? or the on;y thing i can do now its put on ebay as a faulty i luckly will get a few quid out of it (new boards costs £150 ... :\
Thanks in advance

Edit : Forgot to mention the fact that the green light is on when try to power it on (but only for a few seconds tho) and a red/orange light (battery charging up) is lit all the time (obviosuly if i take the battery out its gone...)

Hold down Fn+Esc keys then power up the laptop, still holding down these keys. Tell me if there are any beeps and describe them. ie. 1 long and 2 short etc.

Re: Acer 5315 won't power on.

Did your mate do anything prior to this ie, new drivers, hardware changes or BIOS tinkering?

Re: Acer 5315 won't power on.

Give the lappy a good look over to see if anything has come loose. Then recover all his data and try a recovery back to factory settings. If that dont work then............ Are you confident enough to open it up?

With a little bit of care and good strip down and rebuild methology its quite easy.

As you disassemble it look for anything that has come loose, connectors, wires etc. Once you have the motherboard out check the board for cracks and anything that looks like its broken or hanging off. Theres a link here that may help you.
