Toshiba stuck trying to boot up
Toshiba P35, Windows XP and Ubuntu, during attempted startup I get the following message over and over:
For Realtek RTL8139 PCI Fast Ethernet Controller v2.13 PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM. This prints twice on page then restarts with another page just like it. Has been running this for 30 minutes with no change. Tried turnoff/on, etc. with no change. |

Re: Toshiba stuck trying to boot up
The message means your computer is trying to do a network boot and of course is not finding anything on the network to boot from.
When you power the computer on, press F12 at the toshiba logo screen, that should bring up a boot option menu, select your hard drive in the menu and hit enter, then one of two things will happen, either it will boot into windows like normal, or it won't. If it does boot into windows, then you need to enter the bios, press F2 at the toshiba logo screen, and change the boot order so the hard drive is before LAN/Network. If it does not load windows, and you get the same message, then I would download, burn to a cd, and run a hard drive diagnostic test. You can get it by clicking the link in my signature and choose the test for what brand of hard drive you have. |
