Toshiba laptop POST display problem

Hello

My toshiba laptop wont display anything on POST. Display will show up after vista logo. everythings fine after vista logo. During POST CCFL lights up for a second and will go off. It will light up again from vista logo. Because of this i cant access the bios screen. I just replaced the lcd screen and inverter but still problem persist. Is it because of the lcd video cable?
if i uninstall the video driver ccfl wont light up at all. Then i had to plug my external display to install driver then it will start from vista logo. Pls help me in this situation

Re: Toshiba laptop POST display problem

plug in an external monitor and power the laptop on, can you see the bios on that? if you can, access it, go to the advance or display tab, and switch default monitor to the lcd panel.

Re: Toshiba laptop POST display problem

Press the key that has the picture of a computer on it as it boots to activate the external monitor. On mine it's F5.

Re: Toshiba laptop POST display problem

what model of Toshiba is it?

and Toshiba's by default, if you power it on with an external already hooked up, it will automattically switch to the external. As long as everything is working properly, lol.

As for removing the bios (cmos) battery, that depends on the model, some you can remove, some are soldered onto the motherboard and cannot be removed. Thats why they make other ways to reset the bios :)

Re: Toshiba laptop POST display problem

On my Toshiba A135-S4656 I had to press the F5 or maybe it was F9 key to get the external monitor to work. It would not run if I allowed the machine to power up on it's own I figured this would help. The onboard monitor was broken from a fall and only showed part of the desktop.
I wasn't trying to put guesses or bad info on here the tech who eventually replaced the LCD for me told me to try this and it worked. I was in the middle of a recovery when the whole desktop finally went out. That may explain why it didn't automatically use the external monitor I just thought this was a normal thing.
