2 Weeks ago my laptop monitor went blank. Over the past year I would close the lid and it wouldn't always come back on when I would open it, or it would go into energy save mode but not always come back on, I was always able to shut the pc down with the screen blank so I knew it was the lcd not the the comp freezing.
Now the lcd has finally died, the light is on but the screen is just black. I grabbed an Acer external monitor and attached. Booted up normal, hit fn F8 to toggle between crt/lcd mode, we're all good until it passes the Windows screen. The power button on the monitor goes from blue to yellow, the screen goes black. It's as if the signal has been cut. When I boot up in Safe mode or Safe mode with networking I don't have this problem. Any ideas? I'm ready to dip this laptop in battery acid. I can't purchase a new laptop for a few months so I need to work this out. What could be causing the break in communication? I've tried with 2 different monitors. I'm running Win XP and I'm not tech savvy. HELP!!
