So after downgrading from Vista to XP...
I get the blue screen. ): It was working just fine for a couple of weeks, then, I get the blue screen that says:
A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. Check to make sure that you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters. Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup options, and then select Safe Mode. Technical information: *** STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0x804F47AE, 0xBACCF4A8, 0xBACCF1A4 I got this blue screen after I got this black screen after it says Toshiba and where it should have the Windows XP loading screen that Windows could not start because the ntoskrnl was corrupt or something like that. Then I went to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314477 and tried method 3 which didn't work, then tried method 4 which is running CHKDSK /r in Repair Mode. After method 4 was done, I tried starting it up again and I got this: Windows could not start because the following file is missing or courrupt: \windows\system32\config\system So I went searching again, found http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545, tried what it says in part one, and now, I have the blue screen. -_- Anyway I can fix this? |

Re: So after downgrading from Vista to XP...
I followed the directions, and I still have the problem. I typed 'y' when I got the first prompt, 'Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition' when I got the second prompt, and '/fastdetect' when I saw the last prompt. I pick 'Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition' at the beginning screen and it pauses and goes right to the blue screen.
