ACER 5920 won't boot, screen stays black

Ever since yesterday, whenever I press my power button, the blue LED light turns on, the cd drive clicks twice, but I can't hear the processor. The screen remains black so I can't access BIOS. I've tried removing the battery and running from external power, still nothing. I have not done anything recently that could have triggered this effect. I have tried pressing FN 5 and FN 6 to see if I accidentally changed to projector mode, still nothing. Have also tried connecting to external monitor.

Any ideas guys?

I had a similar problem with an old Acer 1690 that I fixed and thats what got me started posting here. I have not put my post to SOLVED just yet as I want to prove that the old lappy will remain stable.

There are hundreds of similar posts with laptops having this same problem.

Thanks for the reply, i had already read both those posts, going to takeout the RAM and HDD and seeing how that goes, the hard reset didn't do anything.
