Re: please help with APEX FL31 laptop
frist try reseating the memory and power it on. If it still shuts off then take one memory stick out (if you have two memory sticks), try each stick by itself in both slots. See if it does anything each way.
Also try hooking it up to an external monitor and then power it on, see if you get video on that. |

Re: please help with APEX FL31 laptop
gud morning sir,,,
thanks for the tip,, i've try removing the memorycard it goes the same sir, i've also try in external monitor still nothing on it's display, yesterday as i go on inspecting it,, after removing some screw i try to power it on and it opens in its OS after a minute it turns of automatically. as i observe with or without the memory card powering on is the same condition,, it runs my conclusion that it may be the MMC is damage, what to you think sir? |

Re: please help with APEX FL31 laptop
So it actually booted into windows once and shut down?
did you have one or two peices of memory in it? If you only had one stick of RAM, then I would suggest getting another stick and trying that. Also I would try removing the hard drive and dvd drive from the unit, power on and see if you at least get video. You said you tried powering on without the memory card, I just want to verify that it was the actual RAM you took out. If so, when you took it out and powered on, did you hear any beeps or see any lights blinking? |

Re: please help with APEX FL31 laptop
ok, you keep saying mmc stick, which can also mean something totally different and not needed at all, so I want to make sure we're both talking about the same thing.
MMC stick/card is short for a Multi Media Card, used by digital cameras for storing pictures, and you can put it into the computer to transfer pictures easily. Is this what your referring too? or do you mean the sticks of RAM that connect to the motherboard inside the computer? too be sure they look like these found here: http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCateg...=Laptop-Memory Also, try powering it on with only the battery in, and again without the battery and only on ac power |

Re: please help with APEX FL31 laptop
what type of RAM is in there now? most of it is easy to find unless its the really old PC-100 or PC-133.
or the other option, you can take your stick of RAM into a shop and have them test it to see if its good. RAM is the most common cause for the problem you described, and being that, you deffinately need to make sure you have a known good working peice of RAM in there to test with. |
