Help confused
I have a Fijitsu Siemans Amilo pro. it had xp installed but i foolishly decided to upgrade to Vista, this loaded fine but now the machine is so slow I want to go back to XP, I have looked at some forums and all have said put the XP disc in and boot from CD. This works until I select either new install or repair the instant response is that windows cannot find a hard drive installed on the machine press f3 to exit setup. if I then remove the XP disc the machine will boot up happily from the HD. thinking that Vista might be blocking this i have tried fitting a new hard disc with the same reults. what can i try ????????

Re: No hard drive detected
It sounds like you need to either set the BIOS from Sata Mode to IDE or install the sata driver.
Go HERE and input your serial number. It should provide you with the sata driver. Bill |

Bill thanks for the advice, I can't find anywhere in the bios that allows changing to IDE.
After posting this question i found an earlier thread that gives directions to add SATA drivers to the XP cd using nlite and then burning another disc, up to now i have not had any success with this, it has increased the windows file to 1.2gig so now its too big to go on a cd so i have tried transfering it via our network to burn to dvd on our other machine but this is saying it has errors with each file as it sets up to copy. So at this moment I am a bit lost, just going out for a look round the garden to see if i can find my will to continue it seems to have gone to hide somwhere at present.. cheers |

Re: No hard drive detected
Can you PM me the serial number (or post it)?
This will allow me to "see" what you have and get you the correct drivers and guides. Bill |
