IBM ThinkPad T42 Screen shows nothing.

Ok so I got this laptop from my colleague and he asked me to format it. The Problem is that I cant see anything to do anything.

When I turn on the laptop, I can hear fans and hard drive spinning, the LED's are on as they supposed to be. Now the screen is simply off. Doesn't show anything or react to anything. No system beeps or anything like that either.

I have try'ed working external monitor but it did not show anything either.

My guess is that Graphics card ran out of steam and the only solution to bring it back will be to get new motherboard, but I still wanted to post you and maybe some1 got something else to say.

p.s. I was looking at the Re-Flowing option, but not sure what chances I got.

p.p.s. Sorry if the same problem was discussed earlier, but I did search for it and found one topic which didn't help much.
