Laptop cracked, external monitor works in safemode
hi everyone, I created an account particularly for this problem, which goes like this:
I have a Compaq CQ40 with vista premium sp 2. Few weeks ago i accidently cracked the screen and killed it. So i connected my laptop to an external monitor, successfully. I had been going on like that for like a week. Once while i was using it, there was a power cut. When power came back i found out that windows cant load in normal mode, the external monitor just goes black as if in stand by.... Then i tried using safemode and it seemed to work. but now the problem is, when i try to start windows in normal mode, it goes to safe mode. so i have been using the laptop in safemode. I cant buy another laptop or change the screen right now. so any way to make the monitor work in normal mode? Last edited by yugi; 09-19-2009 at 03:44 AM. |

Re: Laptop cracked, external monitor works in safemode
Hi
It is possible that: A component is cracked on the mainboard as well after the fall, resulting in BGA failure (the soldering has cracked and expands when heated) It is also possible that a component inside the cracked panel is the cause of this. Download the Maintenance and service guide, and disconnect the screen. See what happens then.
