Blank screen after boot up
Hi I have a Dell Latitude D810, the problem I am having is that after it boots up and goes to the Windows XP Pro page the image fades and then becomes unseeable. I have however connected it to a Data Projector and am able to use it as normal. Can any one tell me whats wrong with it. As I have said I'm running WindXP Pro with service pack 3

Re: Blank screen after boot up
Sounds like a bad connection or failing screen inverter. Try giving the screen surround a good tap and see if that helps. This fault u have is a classic inverter problem. You can replace the inverter, they are not too expensive. You will have to undo the screws that hold your screen together to get access to it.....not as hard as you think.

Re: Blank screen after boot up
Look and see what your resolution is set at while its running on the external monitor. Once in a great while it can be set above what the LCD panel can do and you'll get no display on the internal and work fine on external. Turn the resolution down a little ways and see if that fixes it.
Also when its booting, right after the dell logo screen goes away start pressing F8 to bring up the windows option menu, select VGA mode and see if that works. |

Re: Blank screen after boot up
Found this http://www.fonerbooks.com/laptop_6.htm. You dont have to remove more than the screen bezel to get to the inverter.
