Windows 7 Qs
Hi everyone
, I have not switched OS on a PC before so I have a few questions that I hope those more knowledgeable than me can help me with! As a side note, I have searched the forum and world wide web but haven't found specific answers to these questions.Ok I have recently brought a new laptop (HP DV6 series) and have taken advantage of the Windows 7 upgrade offer, taking place place from June this year to January next year. In your opinion what is the better option to go for: an in-place upgrade or a clean install of Windows 7? I initially thought a clean install would be best but would I lose all the pre installed software that came with my laptop as the hard drive is wiped? Finally will all my payware programs such as AVG 8.5 still recognise my laptop as the same system and allow me to use the licenses to reinstall the programs after a clean install? That's all I have for now, I'm sure I'll have more questions before October 22nd mind you! Thanks in advance .

Re: Windows 7 Qs
if you go with the clean install, you will have to gather your drivers together first before you start
i upgraded the laptop from vista with no problems

Re: Windows 7 Qs
I just got a new HP HDX16 myself and I will be doing a retro Win7 install(not a clean install). If it doesn't work out can still go back and do it from scratch if necessary....

Re: Windows 7 Qs
Not sure if you can do an install from scratch. You will have to wait until the release. It may only be an upgrade if it is the same was windows vista. Hopefully microsoft has learned its lesson and allowed for a clean install from an upgrade cd.
