Software Instillation Failure
Recently I have tried to load a program for one of my classes on my 1 yr old laptop from dell. All others in my class with similar laptops were able to install the program with little or no problem.
The program is Primavera SureTrak. I'm running with this system: Dell Inspiron 1720 Intel Core2 Duo T8300 2.4ghz 4 GB RAM Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit system Service Pack 1 The specific problem: I input the CD into my disk drive and a pop up asks me if I want to run Setup.exe. I click on the Setup.exe icon and the setup screen opens up. Then I go to click on the Install Primavera SureTrak and I get an hour glass on my mouse icon for about 10 seconds and then it goes away and nothing happens. I open up my task manager and check my applications that are running and it is not on the list of applications. I go over to the Processes tab and find that Setup.exe is being run but still nothing is going on. I have tried running it as an adminstrator and have removed all those authorization pop-ups that Vista gives me by allowing full access for the program. Any ideas for a solution? Other failed attempts at a fix: Dell Support seems to not think its hardware or a Vista problem but something wrong with the CD, which obviously isn't the case when everybody else in my class has installed it using the same CD. Thanks, Justin M Dean |
