Install Windows XP on laptop with broken screen
Hello, I have a Toshiba laptop that is running Windows XP but I need to reinstall Windows because I just want a clean start without all the junk and everything that the pervious owner had on there. But this laptop has a broken screen and you can only see a tiny bit of it. So is there any way that I can install Windows using an external monitor? Or is there any way to set it to disable the laptop monitor and only use the external monitor to install Windows XP? Thanks :D

Re: Install Windows XP on laptop with broken screen
sure is, hook it up to an external monitor, power it on, start pressing F2 to enter the bios (you may have to push ESC, depends on what model of toshiba) in the bios usually on the advance tab is an option to set the video output, change it to VGA or external only.
If you don't have that option, you can still install windows using the external, just it may switch over to the LCD when windows gets up and running, you'd just need to do the Fn + F5 to switch it over. |
