HP Laptop booting problem
Hello all,
Recently I've had a laptop (don't have the exact model number, at work atm) and its been giving a bit of problems. There is a battery problem, I know that. At least, I think so because if my computer is not being charged and the charger cable is removed, the laptop cuts off immediately. There was also this recent problem, there is a red line going straight down towards the middle-right of my screen, but it wasnt that much of a problem because if you position the monitor screen at a certain place then it'll go away. This morning I was using my laptop and my foot accidentally hit the charger cord out by accident and it shut off. I tried to turn it back on, but it wouldn't. What happens is it turns on, all the lights come on, the screen remains totally black, nothing happens for about 10-12 seconds and then it cuts off. It then proceeds to turn itself back on again automatically 2/3 seconds later, only to have the same problem occur. I dont know what to do =\ Im thinking that its a battery problem but I'd like to know first before I do anything. Thanks to anyone who can help! |

Re: HP Laptop booting problem
It sounds like your laptop needs a new battery, first of all. The inability to stay charged without being plugged in was the first clue that it was time to replace the battery. Now it is probably so toasted it can't even hold enough charge while plugged in to keep the laptop powered up. As for the red line problem, the answer to that is a little bit more ominous. The cable that runs through the hinging of the laptop and connects the monitor to the rest of the laptop is wearing out. That's why if you moved the screen just right the red line disappeared. Your display is probably going to die on you within the next few months. Have an external display ready to plug it in to!
