dell inspiron 6400 dim screen, replaced...

my screen went dim on dell 6400. so i replaced the inverter and it worked for a few days, and now its back to being dim. so i bought a cheap new lcd screen. i installed it and it is still dim. Also i bought another inverter incase the other one went bad. is there something wrong with the motherboard or anything. can someone please help me.

new inverter, new screen, still having problems, then I'd replace teh LCD cable, still having problems, then it will be the motherboard.

I'm going to try to connect it to a monitor to see if it works, but if it works can the motherboard still be the problem?

yes it can be, its rare, but i've seen it happen.

hey had the same problem myself a little while ago, i first thought the screen was shot but then when i checked the BIOS i founbd that the screen brightness and gone to 3 instead of the 8 factory standard setting.
