My friend has a Acer Aspire 6930 running Vista. The touch pad wont work. Correction: it works for a few seconds when it first starts to boot up, but when you get to the desktop it stops working. Does anyone think they know what the problem might be?
I was thinking it was an issue with the driver, but he installed the newest one a few days ago. Then I was thinking it was turned off in the BIOS, but he decided to put a password on the laptop, and the letter 'A' isn't working now(The password is Sadie) so I cant get into the bios to look. I guess I can take the CMOS battery out for about 30 minutes and see if the password gets reset, but I don't want to deal with it if it's soldered in. Any ideas on what we can do? |

Re: Acer 6930 Laptop problem
If 'A' key is bad, try using a USB (external) keyboard.
As for the touchpad, what I usually do is to run Ubuntu or Knoppix (via live CD so no need to install on HDD). If touchpad works well in those distros of linux operating system then it could be Vista or touchpad driver in Vista. Btw, does an external mouse work at the laptop's current state?
