Buying a Laptop
Im going to be moving around alot and need a laptop as i cant take my pc everywhere but dont know whats best, i have up to £700 possibly a little more to spend, minimums i am looking for are 3gb RAM, dual core processor and prefer the graphics not to be on board -sound doesnt really matter.
Im looking for 15"+ screen size, durability doesnt really matter and 3 hours+ battry life would be ok. The main use of it will be for word processing and game like cod4/5 combat arms and others like that. A 250gig+ HDD is enough, would prefer the operating system to be windows/windows 7 upgradable is possible. Also looking to buy from a UK retailer, the only places i know are like pc world and comet so my searches dont get my very far. Thanks. |

Re: Buying a Laptop
Look at these: All notebook video is onboard, by the way . . and not suited for high end games

Re: Buying a Laptop
not all laptops use onboard gpus. some use a laptops standard called mxm which is a gpu module that can be changed. recently one of the magazines here in the uk ran a article on upgrading a laptops gpu. ones which use mxm modules.

I have the U.S. version of that laptop and it is a winner for your specifications. The 16 inch screen accommodates high definition videos better than 15 and 17 inch screens, the audio is fantastic, the GPU has 512mb of dedicated DDR2 memory, and you get an HDMI port so you can hook your laptop up to an HDTV. The only cons are the touch sensitive media control panel driver can get buggy and it's not built for durability. |
