Dell vostro 1500 A/C battery - CPU speed problem

Hi,
I couple weeks ago i started having a eror on start up on my Vostro 1500 heres the message:
"Power adapter not recognized.
Press F2 to disable Power warnings and press F1 to continue"

It didnt bother me at 1st since it ran off the adadpter fine but then i noticed a severe drop in performance (unable to watch an hd movie that ran fine before) i checked and my 2.4ghz processors were uonly running at 800mhz

I then noticed the battery was not charging after looking around I found out it was a common problem on dell's and tried one of the solution proposed which was just to remove the batterie and run the laptop off the a/c with no battery. It fixed the problem my processors where the at full speed I could watch my hd videos and game no problem. After a couple days of it running fine I stupidly tried to put the batterie back in to see if it would charge. Well it didnt charge and my processors were back to 800mhz and this time romoving the batterie dosent work the laptop seems stuck in power saving mode.

Any idea what to do to have my processors run at full speed?

I also read that updating the bios could fix the problem (i'm running the A05 version, theres a new one available A06) but it dosent update because the battery is at less tha 10%. Any way around this? I already tried to use /forceit didnt work.

Here are the specs:
Dell vostro 1500
Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 2.4 GHz - 3072 Mo RAM - DD 250 Go - GeForce 8600M GT 256 Mo - Ecran WXGA TFT 15,4.
No longer on warrenty

One last thing in my opinion this problem is a sign of a faulty motherboard probably caused by overheating I read somewhere that the 8600m gt gpu has a defect and that they extend the warrenty on some models but I cant find the article on the dell website anyone know where to find info on this?

thanks

Seems like a problem with a faulty DELL adapter... read here:
